I’m never good enough.
I toiled yesterday.
I sweated today.
Amnesia takes over at the end of the day.
They don’t remember your strengths.
They don’t remember your smile.
They don’t remember your good days.
You’re just full of vile.
They don’t care about your busy mind—
Thinking of them, praying for them.
They don’t care about your tears at night.
They have the axe at my life’s stem.
They don’t see the drops of sweat on your forehead.
They don’t see the panting of the great race.
They just see the immediate action in front of them.
They see the insubordination without the layers.
I’m never good enough.
I toiled yesterday.
I sweated today.
Amnesia takes over at the end of the day.

That photo reminds me of how I have felt on some darker days; run over and just waiting to get drenched in the rain!

I’m glad it’s “just a poem”. Otherwise I’d be feeling sad for you and I would have to send you some flowers and a box of candy. But, it’s just today’s poem, right?
