One of the main things that I have noticed since beginning this blog is that I receive more support from people I don’t know. In the beginning, it bothered me. Now, I don’t care. I worked very hard on my blog, and I continue to do so. And of course, I do have those loyal supporters, which I appreciate it much.
I have all kinds of social media such as Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, and others I might have forgotten about. I use Instagram and WordPress the most.
It’s common courtesy to hit like or repost to support a post, especially that of a “friend.” I usually obtain these reactions when I mention my blog to friends: they stay quiet, they ignore it, they claim that they’ll check it out but never do, or they say they’re busy. I think, “too busy to even hit like or repost?” It’s interesting to me too when they hit like on every other picture, except if it has to do with my blog.
Of course, I’m not a pusher, so I just don’t bring it up. But I do notice those little details.
All in all, at times, I do have the monster of doubt telling me, “Just quit writing. You’re never going to make it.” The silences of those who believe that I can’t make it, or that look of “are you crazy” disguised in politeness, do get to me. In the end, I have to shut out these subtle doubters.
I suppose I can’t blame them. When I say, “I want to be a teacher,” or any other “normal” and achievable job, most don’t look at me like I am some kind of lunatic. However, when I say, “I am writing a book,” too many doubts fill their countenance. That’s when I know that I am daring to follow my dreams.
Many write but quit. I hope that I don’t abandon my dream to be a writer. If you’re writing, don’t quit. If there’s something your writing is lacking, then work hard at it and learn. The best tools are reading and writing.
“So get to it!” This line, I am telling myself.

You’re a writer, therefore you must write. Very few of my personal friends read my stuff and, at first, it bothered me. Initially I also wrote just to satisfy my need to write, but now I’ve picked up a number of followers and a few have become as intimate as friends whom I see every day. I refuse to buy the lie that blogging friends are not “real” friends

Your comment is so important because it makes feel a bit better that many of us experience that same issues. And you’re right, blogging has allowed me to meet wonderful people. 🌹😊

Absolutely. When I tell my friends (who do not read me) that I have blogging friends from around the world, they just give me a strange look and grunt. LOL

Lol that’s the look of unbelief. But also a subtle and little slap to their doubts. 😂😊🌹❤️🙏🏻

Hope you don’t mind, I’ve reblogged this on my blog with reference back to you. Loved ” If you’re writing, don’t quit. If there’s something your writing is lacking, then work hard at it and learn.”

You have no idea how much this has motivated me.
I have been so reluctant to start because of negative thoughts.
Thank you😀😀😀😀😀

I’m so happy to hear that this was motivating to you. We all have those doubts and negative thoughts, most writers do. But yes, you’re right, you should write! 😊🌹❤️🙏🏻
