Get to Know Ana P. Rose A Bit More

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend. I formed several questions that might help you to know me a little bit better. If you have any other questions, leave them in the comment section. I will answer them to the best of my abilities. Let’s go.

Also, feel free to make your own “Get to know…blog.” If you create one, leave your link in the comment section. I’ll read it!

What is your favorite color? Green.

Where are you from? I’m an American born and raised in California. I mainly grew up around Lynwood, South, and La Puente.

What is your family cultural background? My parents are from Guatemala. They immigrated legally to the United States decades ago.

What languages do you know? I am fluent in both English and Spanish. I have a small accent when I speak English, which makes people think I am not an American. According to Duo Lingo, I’m 47 percent fluent in French. I think it’s more like 3%. I can also read Greek, but I don’t understand anything of it. I know odd.

Do you have any hobbies? I love writing lyrics. I usually have a melody in mind every time I write them. I have several “rough drafts” of several songs. I’ve tried to put a band together for a few times now, but it hasn’t worked out.

What is your favorite sport? I love soccer! And yes, I am updated with the world cup. Currently, my favorite league team is Real Madrid. My favorite player of all time is Cristiano Ronaldo. Why? Because the guy fights against all odds, and he has managed to be the best player proving people wrong. I like that, and I look up to such people.

When did you start writing? Unofficially, I’ve been writing lyrics since I was a kid. I believe since I was 9 or ten years old. As a kid, most of my lyrics were inspired by the bible. As an adult, I’ve been writing for years. I can’t even remember. Academically, it’s been around 10 years. As a fiction writer, it’s only been around 3 years or less. I’ve published three short stories through my dissertation at Azusa Pacific University, and I self-published an e-book at the beginning of this 2018. Hopefully, I can publish my urban fantasy book soon! I’m still working on it. School and work have kept me from finishing the darn thing.

What’s your book about? My book is an obese woman who struggles with an eating disorder. She’s finally made up her mind to lead a healthy lifestyle and change her mentality. Of course, changing her lifestyle and mentality come with some challenging demons who will try to keep her from her goals at all costs. The book does have comic relief, and yet it touches on the subject of eating disorders.

What inspired your book? The idea first came to me over a decade ago when I saw the movie “Shallow Hal.” And I have struggled a lot with weight issues. So, in part, inspired by own issues.

Any favorite movies? 10 things I Hate You about you, Begin Again, most of the Marvel superhero movies, Wonder Woman, 2010’s Batman movies, 80’s/90’s Batman movies, and probably a lot more.

Favorite superhero? Batman.

Favorite music? I like all kinds of music. I am not ashamed to admit that I love the pop world music. I do listen to classical, indie, hip hop, latin music, ballads, hard rock, some types of screamo etc.

What are your favorite shows? Let’s just say I binge on Netflix. So most of my favorites are from there like, GLOW, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Dare Devil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist. But my ultimate tv show of all time is the sitcom: How I Met Your Mother. I’ve seen it around 6 times now.

What was your major? English major.

What schools did you go attend? I started at Victor Valley College, and I obtained my Associate’s degree. I then transferred to Uc Irvine and received a Bachelor of Arts in English. Finally, I went to Azusa Pacific University and graduated as an English major there too, receiving a Master of Arts.

Any addictions? Yes, Caffeine. I take any latte, frap, or smoothie always with Soy.

Favorite food? I love too many foods to have favorites. But as an American, I love burgers and pizza. As a Californian it is my duty, I feel, to love In-N-Out burgers. I love Guatemalan food, especially my mom’s tamales, and Pepin soup. I’m getting hungry writing this. ha ha!

Who’s your favorite author? I don’t have one. But I love Flannery O’Connor, Edgar A. Poe, and Shakespeare. I need to catch up on my Shakespeare though!

What’s your favorite book? My favorite book is Frankenstein. As most readers, I think, I feel the utmost sympathy for the monster. I admire his self-teaching, though not his vengeance at all. But can you blame him?

Fun fact: When I was in middle school, the soccer coach quit. So a P.E teacher volunteered. I was a brat back then, and I thought she was awful at coaching. She really knew nothing about soccer. So I tried to take over the coaching. I’m so embarrassed now about such behavior. LOL!

Okay, hopefully, this gives you a bit more information of who I am. And please, create your own. I want to read it!

  1. I’ve always wanted to know more about you so this was perfect! I majored in History, but grew up wanting to major in English. I went to college through the Navy, so when my Navy work was evaluated for credits, it turned out the best path was History. No matter though; I’ve always loved History too!
Great post; it clears up all my questions about your wish to teach 🙂
