Song of the Week # 16: “How Do I Live” LeAnn Rimes

I have not written in quite a while about my song of the week. I have too many favorite songs. I cannot even keep up. I am not sure why, but this week I thought about LeAnn Rimes. If you’re old enough, I think her song “How Do I Live” will come to mind.

Interestingly enough, every time I think about this song, it also reminds me of that ’90s over the top action movie with Nicholas Cage, Con Air. It’s one of those “guilty pleasure” movies. It’s so awful but so 90s and so Nicholas Cage (LOL). If you watch it prepare to roll your eyes so far back, you can see your own brain. But hey, I still love that movie. If you have seen it? Please, tell if you like it or hate or both?

At any rate, I hope you love this song as much as I do. It’s incredibly romantic–something we’re missing in much of our popular music today. Songs today can be extremely hyper-sexualized, resentful and bitter, about heartbreak, or this idea about “I don’t need anyone in my life.”

I’m not saying we can’t be happy on our own and live fine. But I think we all need that special someone in our life. My parents have been in a relationship more than 35 years, so I certainly believe in that “mythical thing” called love. As long it is with the right person, why not?

Here is part of the lyrics, and I also provided a youtube video for you. Have a great weekend.

“If you ever leave
Baby, you would take away
Everything good in my life
And tell me now
How do I live without you?
I want to know
How do I breathe without you?
If you ever go
How do I ever, ever survive
How do I, how do I, oh how do I live…”
