I saw her looking at me from afar.
Suspicious eyes.
My gut instinct got on guard.
“No benefit of the doubt for me?
She barely knows me,
a few acquaintance-like words spoken between us.
But she’s already judged me.
She walks by me, without a word,
with her aura of, “I don’t like you, bitch.”
No words needed.
She looks down at me from head to toe.
I smile politely to break the ice,
to try to be Switzerland.
Her eyes are cold and ill-intentioned.
“That’s how women are…”
No, That’s how insecure women are.
Cold as ice against their sisters,
judging, spreading rumors, inventing schemes.
They’re like snakes, subtle–gathering a community,
the in-group, to get rid of “the bitch.”
“That’s how women are…”
No, That’s how insecure girls act.
Gullible boys & girls believe them,
and they join to “burn the witch.”
Yes, “Because she’s a bitch.”

Ana, this is by far the most incredible poem I have read this week.
Lots of truth from a perspective points of view.
Hope I understood the poem correctly?
P.S Hi neighbor. I read above your bio and says you live in “East Los Angeles, California.”
Well, I live in Boyle Heights. Nice to know there’s writers from the area who use ‘WordPress’.
Your the second person i know who lives in the hood. 🙂
Thank you for the follow…I’m currently following your blog page.
I’ll be reading more of your works and commenting. Hope you get to check out my poems.
Heads up, they’re weird and very experimental. Stop by and read for yourself. 🙂
