Hi, I was sitting thinking about the book (fiction, low fantasy) I am writing and why I wrote my recent short story, The Eye of the Cat. And I thought, why do I like writing? Usually, my answer is, “I don’t know. I just like writing.” After thinking about it a bit more, I came up with a list. So, here’s a short list of why I think I write.
- I have a big imagination (fiction writing).
- It’s therapeutic (journal writing).
- It helps me clear out my many thoughts (brainstorming).
- It helps me express deeper emotions (free verse)
- It helps me meet new types of writers and what they like to write about (social media & blogging).
Why do you like to write poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or why do you blog etc.? Let me know in the comments below. I’m curious.

For me, it helps to process my emotions. I also love telling stories. I meet so many interesting people traveling and I enjoy sharing their story, so others can learn about them.

It’s amazing that you have the opportunity to travel and meet people. ☺ What have you learn from people in general?

That people are similar in many different walks of life. We all want the basics in life. They’ve also opened my mind to several different ways of living. Seeing the risks they’ve taken, or things they’ve learned to be successful is fascinating to me.

“…things they’ve learned to be successful” this part very interesting, especially because westerners, generally, we have this idea of success.

Writing introduces me to a world of imagination where my thoughts find a way to assemble themselves and build an empire on the basis of aptitude of emotions and sentiments which lives within me.

Writing for me just helps me to escape life and it is something which helps my productivity because it gets me in a strong sense of routine and discipline

Writing as an escape makes a lot of sense, especially in such a loud world. Thank you for your support. ☺ 🌹

Sorry, I don’t know if replied or not. And yes, that makes sense to me. I write because it keeps “following me.” I leave it alone, and then somehow I have to write. Thank you for stopping by 🙂

You did but thank you for replying again 🤗
I feel the same. Writing is something which I truly enjoy and when I don’t write, I get the itch to write later down the line.
I hope you had a great weekend and I hope you have a great week ahead

Why do Writers write is such a valid question to ask ourselves! I wrote an article recently on my website trying to answer the question “Why Do Writers Write ” https://authorjoannereed.net/why-do-writers-write/ – Feel free to check it out!

This is probably going to sound weird and dumb, I write for myself. But I cannot post for myself. It’s wired in my mind that the whole point of blogging is reaching out.

Perhaps blogging is to reach out. However, I don’t see anything with that. Writing can be therapeutic. 🙂 And thank you for sharing that. It is not dumb and weird, but I did not expect that answer. It’s still a good one.
