At The Edge of A Cliff

I stand at a cliff. My toes are flying by the edge. My thoughts float as the doubts stare back at me. I watch the pendulum. Was it right or wrong? Debating my actions, my words. Why? It is what it is. But my head seeps into the same old spiral. My muscles ache of so much running and climbing. I hear the cracks and the rustiness of my joints. They’re giving in. My heart is nearly pounding out of my chest.

A book falls from the sky. Leather bound, silver latch, and golden words. I pick up the book to read Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” I look up between the mountains, a bridge of chains unfolds with a solid ground toward a path. What path? I doubt. But I take the first step…
